1. Our commitment
Up & About exists to support independence. The website and future mobile app should remain usable when someone enlarges text, uses a keyboard, relies on a screen reader, has reduced dexterity or needs information presented simply and consistently.
Accessibility is considered in content, layout, interaction design and product decisions. Feedback from people who encounter barriers is especially valuable.
2. Current status
The website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This means many relevant requirements are addressed, but the full site and demo have not yet been evaluated across a representative range of assistive technologies and user environments.
The operational mobile application is not yet released. Its accessibility status will be documented separately by app version before launch.
3. Accessibility features currently supported
- Semantic headings, page landmarks and descriptive page titles.
- Keyboard access to links, navigation, buttons, dialogs and demo controls.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators.
- Responsive layouts that adapt to smaller screens and browser zoom.
- Text alternatives for meaningful photographs.
- Text labels in addition to color for important status information.
- Reduced animation when the device requests reduced motion.
- No automatically playing audio or video.
- Plain-language explanations for safety, privacy and prototype limitations.
4. Known limitations
Interactive demo
The interactive demo is visually scaled to resemble a physical phone on larger screens. Some combinations of high browser zoom, small desktop windows or assistive technology may make the frame less convenient than a normal web page. On narrow screens, the demo becomes an edge-to-edge mobile layout.
Assistive-technology testing
The prototype has not yet completed formal testing with a representative set of screen readers, voice-control tools, switch devices or magnification software. Issues found through testing or user feedback will be tracked and corrected.
External typefaces
If the external font service is unavailable, the site falls back to system fonts. Content and controls should remain available, although line wrapping may change.
5. Technical compatibility
The site is built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is intended to work with current versions of major browsers on desktop and mobile. Essential informational pages remain readable without JavaScript; JavaScript is required for the interactive demo.
Very old browsers and unsupported operating systems may not receive the intended layout or interaction behavior.
6. Assessment approach
The current statement is based on self-evaluation, code review and functional checks. It is not an accessibility certification or the result of an independent audit.
The statement follows the structure recommended by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. It will be reviewed when material features change and at least annually.
