What is a daily check-in app?
A daily check-in app gives someone a regular, low-effort way to confirm that they are okay. Instead of family members repeatedly calling “just to make sure,” the person checks in during an agreed window.
If the check-in happens, the circle can see that ordinary reassurance. If it does not happen, the absence becomes a reason for a trusted person to call, visit or take the next sensible step.
How Up & About is intended to work
Set generous morning and evening periods around the person’s real routine.
Choose family, friends, neighbours or support workers who can respond.
A completed check-in quietly reassures the circle without starting another conversation.
The planned service alerts the circle together so someone can reach out promptly.
What should you look for in a check-in app?
A window should accommodate sleep, appointments and ordinary variations.
Everyone should understand who is alerted and what they should do next.
A check-in should not become continuous location or activity monitoring.
The important action should be obvious, readable and usable with one hand.
Who may find it useful?
Daily check-ins can be helpful for older adults living independently, adults of any age who live alone, people managing a temporary health concern, long-distance families and community support teams.
They are not a substitute for emergency services, professional monitoring or medical alert equipment. A check-in app is one layer of a wider safety plan. Read the Up & About safety statement.
Current availability
Up & About is currently a pre-release product and the public mobile experience is an interactive prototype. The demo does not send alerts, make calls or store check-ins.
You can try the complete check-in flow or email info@upnabout.com to ask about early access.
